Sinedot and Sunburst Seamless Tiles Tutorial

The tutorial was written for PSPX2 - but can be done using any of the versions of PSP

For this tutorial we are going to use the Freeware Filter Dragonfly PlugIn SinedotsII - Click on the link and then scroll down to the bottom of the page and click on the word here that is underlined where it says "Download SinedotsII for windows here" - download and save and install to where you keep your PlugIn/Filters

For information on installing filters if you do not know how go to installingfilters where you will also find the files needed to run a lot of the filters. You will need to install these if you have not already done so

For Fonts go to the Fonts Menu Font are sorted alphabetically

Instructions

NOTE: The settings in this tutorial produce the 1st seamless tile sample above - By changing the settings in the Sinedots Plugin and in the Sunburst each tile will be different and the possibilities are endless. There are 2 other such examples shown above also.
  1. Open a New Image in PSP ( Ctrl + N )> width 150 pixels x 150 pixels; Resolution 100.000 pixels/inch; Raster background checked; Color depth RGB 8bits/channel For Users of old PSP versions this is 16million(24bit); Color Transparent Checked>OK.
  2. Materials Palette>Click on the wee button underneath the Foreground Colour swatch and select Solid Colour; Left click on the Foreground Colour Swatch To open the Materials Palette Dialogue Box> Change the S - (Saturation) to 54; and the L - (Lightness) to 141; now to get the H - (Hue) You want to use as a base colour left click on the small black circle that is on the colour wheel and holding down the mouse button - drag it around the wheel and when you are happy with the coloue displayed in the square showing the current colour let the mouse button go to set the Hue The Hue I selected to use was 11; Texture Unchecked>OK.

  3. Select your Flood Fill Tool ( F )>Match Mode None or RGB Value; Use all layers Unchecked; Blend Normal; Opacity 100.
    1. Left click on your transparent image to flood fill it with your chosen colour.
  4. Effects>DragonFly>Plugins>SindotsII>
    1. Inner Density +1.33
    2. Outer Density +0.36
    3. Add Factor +0.46
    4. x1-x2 weight 0
    5. y1-y2 weight -0.03
    6. Make slide that is next to the randomize button +1
    7. Offsets -
      • X1 +277.95
      • X2 +220.65
      • Y1 +331.57
      • Y2 +249.14
      • Gamma 1
      • Blend Screen
      • Right click on wee colour swatch and select white
    8. Inner Angles -
      • Top Left -1 over +167.90
      • Top Right 0 over +101.92
      • Bottom Left -1 over +212.86
      • Bottom Right 0 over +338.75
    9. Outer Angles -
      • Top Left -1 over +319.64
      • Top Right 0 over +68.20
      • Bottom Left -1 over +314.31
      • Bottom Right 0 over +165.96
    10. Anti-alias Checked
    11. Clip colour Unchecked>OK.

  5. Effects>Illumination Effects>Sunburst>Right click on the wee colour swatch and select white; Brightness 0; Horizontal and Vertical both 100; Rays-Density 61; Rays-Brightness 27; Circles - Brightness 29>OK.

  6. Effects>Image Effects>Seamless Tiling>Tiling Method - Corner; Direction - Bidirectional; Vertical and Horizontal Offsets both 0; Transition 50; Corner Style Linear>OK.

  7. File>Export>JPEG Optimizer
    • Quality Tab - Set Compression To 20; Chroma Subsampling leave as default setting; Save Exif Data Unchecked
    • Format Tab - Progressive Checked
    • Click OK.
    • In the Save PopUp - Select a folder to save the file in and give the image a name>OK.
  8. Layers> New Raster Layer.
  9. Add watermark.
  10. Layers>Merge>Merge All(Flatten).
