Download the Goldenbeads Pattern and the Goldlady pattern and unzip and save them into My Documents/My PSP Files/Patterns.


Making a Re-usable Old Picture Frame Instructions

  1. Open a New Image ( Ctrl + N )>600w x 700h pixels; Resolution 100.000 pixels/cm; Raster Background Checked; Colour Depth RGB 8bit/channel; Right click on the wee colour swatch and select any colour except Black>OK.
  2. Selections>Select All
    ( Ctrl + A ).
  3. Selections>Load/Save Selection>Save Selection to Alpha Channel>Use default settings>Save.
  4. Selections>Select None ( Ctrl + D ).
    NOTE: We do this because we are going to need this selection near the end of the tutorial.
  5. Image>Add Borders>Symmetric Checked; Enter number value 3 into any of the boxes and the rest will self adjust; Right click on the wee colour swatch and select Black>OK.
  6. Image>Add Borders>Change number value to 8; Right click on the colour swatch and select a colour not in your image>OK.
  7. Select your Magic Wand Tool>Mode Replace; Match Mode RGBValue; Tolerance 0; Use all layers and contiguous both Checked; Feather 0; Anti-alias Checked - Outside.
  8. Now left click inside this new outside border to select it.
  9. Select your Floodfill Tool ( F )>Match Mode RGB Value; Tolerance 0; Use all layers Checked; Blend Mode Normal; Opacity 100.
  10. Materials Palette>Click on the wee button underneath the Background colour swatch and select Pattern; Left click on the Background colour swatch To open the Materials Palette Dialogue Box; From Dropdown menu select goldlady pattern; Angle 0; Scale 125; Texture Unchecked>OK. Right click inside the selected area to Floodfill it with the GoldLady pattern.
  11. Selections>Modify>Contract>Enter 1 in the number of pixels box>OK.
  12. Materials Palette>Click on the wee button underneath the Foreground colour swatch and select Pattern; Left click on the Foreground colour swatch To open the Materials Palette Dialogue Box; From Dropdown menu select golddenbeads pattern; Angle 0; Scale 125; Texture Unchecked>OK.
  13. Floodfill Tool still active tool>And change Match Mode to None.
  14. Left click inside the selected area to Floodfill it with the Goldenbeads pattern.
  15. Adjust>Sharpness>Sharpen More.
  16. Selections>Select None ( Ctrl + D ).

  17. Image>Add Borders>Change number value to 34; Right click on the colour swatch and select black>OK.
  18. Image>Add Borders>Change number value to 13; Right click on the colour swatch and select a colour>OK.
  19. Select your Magic Wand Tool>Settings as before.
  20. Now left click inside this new outside border to select it.
  21. Select your Floodfill Tool ( F )>Settings as before.
  22. Right click inside the selected area to Floodfill it with the GoldLady pattern.
  23. Selections>Modify>Contract>Enter 2 in the number of pixels box>OK.
  24. Materials Palette>Click on the Foreground golden beads colour swatch to open the Materials Properties Dialogue boxand change scale to 200>OK.
  25. Left click inside the selected area to Floodfill it with the Goldenbeads pattern.
  26. Selections>Select None ( Ctrl + D ).

  27. Image>Add Borders>Change number value to 34; Keep the colour you chose>OK.
  28. Select you Magic Wand Tool>Settings as before.
  29. Now left click inside this new outside border to select it.
  30. Select your Floodfill Tool again ( F )>Leave settings as before.
  31. Right click inside the selected area to Floodfill it with the GoldLady pattern.
  32. Effects>3dEffects>Inner Bevel>From dropdown menu select Bevel #6 (Row 2 column 2); Width 14; Smoothness 28 Depth 8; Ambience and Shininess both 0; Direction 315 Intensity 50; Elevation 30; Right click on wee colour swatch and select White>OK.

  33. Repeat Steps #27 - 31 inclusive.
  34. Selections>Modify>Expand>10 Pixels>OK. Note: You will not be able to see the outer edge wriggly line around the selection as it is now off the edge of the image
  35. Effects>3dEffects>Inner Bevel>From dropdown menu select Bevel #7 (Row 2 column 3); Rest of settings as before;OK.
  36. Selections>Select None ( Ctrl + D ).

  37. Selections>Select All ( Ctrl + A ).
  38. Selections>Modify>Contract> Number pixels 8>OK.
  39. Selections>Invert.
  40. With Floodfill Tool selected again - left Click insided the selected area to floodfill it with the goldenbeads.
  41. Selections>Select None ( Ctrl + D ).

  42. Selections>Load/Save Selection>Load Selection from Alpha Channel>Use default settings>Load.
  43. Selections>Invert.
  44. Effects>Artistic Effects>Chrome>Flaws 8; Brightness 17; Use original colour Checked>OK.
  45. Selections>Select None ( Ctrl + D ).

  46. Layers> New Raster Layer.
  47. Add watermark onto the frame area.
  48. Layers>Merge>Merge Visible.
  49. Selections>Load/Save Selection>Load Selection from Alpha Channel>Use default settings>Load.
  50. Edit>Cut ( Delete button ). You will now have a transparent center to the image
  51. Selections>Select None ( Ctrl + D ).
  52. File>Export>Picture Frame>Give your frame a name I called mine Sue's Old Frame>Save.

    Now let's use our Frame
  53. Open a graphic Image you would like to Frame .
  54. Image> Picture Frame>From the dropdown menu select the frame you just made; Check the Keep Transparent Button; Check Frame Canvas; Choose between Framing inside or outside the image; and check any of the other selection if you wish to>OK.
