INSTALLING FILTERS

by woven

Before you do anything close PSP and any other programs you have open

1. Under here you will see a zip file called plugin.zip

you will need to download this .zip file.

plugin.zip

Unzip and save the 2 files inside it and register them with your system into

C:WINDOWS/system - in Windows XP and earlier versions
and for Vista and Windows7 32bit OS Users into the system32 folder and for Windows7 64bit OS Users into your sysWOW64 folder
Note you may need to turn off the UAC temprarily to do so

The reason for this is that a lot of the filters you can use are originally made for Photoshop Graphics program and unless you have installed the 2 files above they will not work in PSP.

---------------------------

If you do not have Windows XP and are using an earlier version you will also need to have thewinzipprogram so that you are able to unzip files that have been zipped.
Right click on the winzip file and save target as and save to C:programfiles/and make a folder here called winzip.

---------------------------

2. Next choose a filter you would like to use and when you have chosen it i want you to do the following BEFORE you download it.

For the purpose of the exercise i will use the filterJeux de lignes ,
thus making the file path
PSP versions 7 - 9 C/programfiles/jasc software inc/paint shop pro/plugins/entrelacement. PSP version X C/programfiles/corel/paint shop pro X/plugins/entrelacement.

Go to START > mycomputer > local drive C > programfiles > jasc software inc (PSPX = Corel)> paint shop pro >and make sure there is a folder there called plugins if there isn't click onfile > new3and when the new folder shows give it the namepluginsand when you have made the folder open it and make a new folder in it and give it the name of the filter PSP versions 7 - 9C/programfiles/jasc software inc/paint shop pro/plugins/entrelacement PSP X C/programfiles/corel/paint shop pro/plugins/entrelacement.

I always make a new folder inside the plugins folder for each individual filter as it is the easiest way to keep track of what files belong to what filter.

--------------------------

3. OK NOW go back to the filter and download it(by rightclick on it and left click save target as
( filters always come zipped )andsave the zip into the folder you just made for it( making sure that you use the exact same file path you used to make the file).

When you have done thatgo to the zip and open it(To open the file double left click on the winzip icon) and then follow the prompts in winzip and when getsextract totype in the file path for it

C/programfiles/jasc software inc (corel)/paint shop pro/plugins/entrelacement

and then keep following remainder of prompts in winzip.

-------------------------

In this instance the entrelacement filter will extract and be ready to use BUT some filters eg. Blade Pro extract a setup program which you will have to go to the file where you opened it to and click on the setup icon and install it remembering to make sure that you install it into exactly the same file path.
Also some filters require you to then restart your pc [from memory i dont think you need to for the entrelacement one].

So now you canopen PSP.and open an image>increase it's colour depth to 16mill>click on Effects>Plugins, and you will see the Plugin that you just installed.

-------------------------
Click on the PSPLessons button in the left hand menu and click on the lesson Using Pluginsand I will show you how to use this particular filter
