Save the following image and open it in PSP and increase it's
colour depth to 8bit or 16million ( ctrl+shift+0
)ie. zero not capital O

Also save and open the following 2 .zip files to somewhere you
can find them Haircolours zipfile and
Skincolours zipfile and open them in PSP and increase their colour depth
to 8bit or 16million.( ctrl+shift+0 )
1. Go to lefthand menu and select your dropper tool
( E )
2. Go over to the Skincolour chart and holding mouse over the
skin colour I have chosen for this lesson ( the 4th Row middle
square) and left click. This will change your foreground colour
to this colour ( check in your materials palette to see this is
so.
3. Got to lefthand menu and select the 11th tool down and click
on the drop menu arrow next to it and select the 2nd to last tool
CHANGE TO TARGET. 
on tool palette make size approximately 13(adjust down or up
where necessary);hardness 50;step 10;density and thickness
100;rotation 0; and opacity 45, colour the girls skin.I find
it helps to zoom the image up till it starts to pixelate helps to
see what you are doing (use scroll wheel if you have one or go to
view>zoom in)
4. Go over to the Haircolour chart and holding mouse over the
Hair colour I have chosen for this lesson ( the 2nd Row 1st
square) and left click.
5. Re-select your Change to Target tool and colour her
hair.

6. Go to materials palette and change the foreground colour to
R111 G149 B136 ( HTML#6f9588 ) and then go back to Change to
target tool and using size 3 opacity 27 colour her eyes and give
her some eyeshadow.
7. Go to materials palette and change the foreground colour to R
165 G 0 B 0 ( HTML#840000 ) and then go back to Change to target
tool and using size 3 opacity 27 give her lips some nice
colour.

8. Now we will fine tune her. Go to top menu bar and click on
adjust>colour balance and use following settings then click
OK.

9. Go to top menu bar and click on adjust>brightness and
contrast>clarify>strength=2 and click OK.

After you have practiced with this you will be able to colour
up all those old black and white photos you have.
Just make sure you save them under another name
so that you still have your original one as they are
priceless.
If you wish to colour your Sepia photos - you
will first need to change them to Black and White
To do this go to Effects>Photo Effects>Black and White
Film>Filter colour=red ; strength=70 (or adjust to suit)
